No one wants to become a victim of identity fraud we all work very hard to make our incomes to provide not only for ourselves but many of us provide for our families. Thankfully encryption has our backs when we can't always watch it. Encryption protects our information by making it our information unreadable to potential threats. Authentication protects us by giving us extra security when accessing an account. For example, when I log in to my Target credit card account it asks me for additional proof of my identity by giving me the option to either email or text me a code to verify it's me.
"To be or not to be...", "To make it easier for someone else to break into your account or to make it harder to...", that is the question that 1.4.12 Encryption and Authentication Facts answers :-)
ReplyDeleteRequiring additional proof to authenticate your identify during the login process is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), a good practice to use!
'Something you know, something you have, and something you are.' Multi-Factor Authentication is time consuming but worth it.
ReplyDeleteI too am thankful for the process of authentication. However, I have the process a nightmare as well. I recently had my phone stolen and hacked into. My authentication was changed by the thieves. It was a nightmare calling the banks, credit card companies, credit bureaus and the such.
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right, identity fraud is a serious threat, and it's important to take steps to protect our personal information. It's great to hear that you're taking advantage of this feature on your credit card account. By using encryption and authentication, we can all better safeguard our personal and financial information.
ReplyDeleteThere are different ways in which the messages intended to be protected can be encrypted, and access to it reduced to very few parties. The symmetric key is among the common types of encryptions existing in the current technology and also served in the past era. Here, both the encryption process and the decryption process are the same. The parties between which the messages is intended to communicate to must have the same key before encrypting the message, to ensure that the message can be accessible both to the sender and the recipient as intended. A Bluetooth device is a perfect example of this case, whereby the message being transmitted from one party to the other must share the same key pass to have the information shared across both sides.
ReplyDeleteThough I find it a pain to open Microsoft Authenticator anytime I need to login to Microsoft-related accounts, I'm glad it makes it that much harder for my accounts to be breached.
ReplyDeleteHello Kimberly, Data Encryption certainly comes in handy when it comes to protecting our sensitive information. I believe companies such as Apple offer data protection that makes it very difficult for someone to breach and access your persona data, Apple and several other messaging apps such as Whatsapp are also known to offer end-to-end encryption on messages so we can communicate without having to worry about a third party or a hacker gaining access to them. Authentication also plays a major role in providing security, Apple and Samsung phones offer facial recognition to confirm that it is really you trying to open your phone, many other websites and companies also send verification codes just as you mentioned to reassure that it is you trying to log in into your account.
ReplyDeleteUsing a credit card is a good way to prevent money from being stolen on the Internet because banks will do the job of caring our property and will compensate us if our credit is leaked to criminals.
ReplyDeleteEncryption is essential nowadays being that data is one of the most valuable things on the planet.
ReplyDeleteI have been victim of multiple cases when people have made fake accounts of me. I have now stayed away from posting and let my virtual assistant do that once in a while. But one shouldn't/t be afraid and follow precautionary steps.
ReplyDeleteYeaaaah I can't speak for others, but I have faced fraud and I was stolen $800..... I'd rather just pay for everything in cash.
